Docket Nos. 50-348 50-364 U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission ATTN Document Control Desk Vashington, D.C. 20555 -

Gentlement Joseph H. Farley Nuclear Plant Proposed Revision of Battery Load Profile Requirements Alabama Power Company proposes to delete from Technical Specifications the tables which delineate the load profiles for the Auxiliary Building battery service test and the Service Water battery service test. The tables contained in'the Technical' Specifications vould be replaced with statements requiring testing to equivalent load profiles based on . _

anticipated breaker operations required during loss-of-offsite power (LOSPj i and loss-of-coolant accident (LOCA) conditions. The equivalent load '

I profiles are explicitly defined in the Final Safety Analysis Report (FSAR).

By removing the table from the Technical Specifications, changes vill not be required each time an emergency load is added or deleted while the requirement to test to the design basis load profile vill still be preserved.  !

The proposed Technical Specification changes are provided in Attachment _1.

Alabama Power Company has determined that the proposed changes do not i involve a.significant hazards consideration. In accordance with 10CFR50.92, a significant hazards consideration evaluation is provided in Attachment 2. Alabama Power Company's Plant Operations Review Committee has reviewed these proposed changes and the Nuclear Operations Review Board will reviev these proposed changes-at a future meeting. NRC approval of this change is requested by December 15, 1990.

Pursuant to 10CFR50.91(b)(1), a copy of this proposed change has also been sent to Dr. C. E. Fox, the Alabama State Designee.
