NOTE: PPD768, PPD769 and PPD770 malfunctioned and were not applied to turtles.

NECROPSY REPORT I
Kemp's Ridley removed from the St. Lucie Plant 4/3/87 (27e9 cm SLCL)
Necropsy performed by Dr. Thomas C. Finch, V.M.D.
Noted superficial wounds at base of beak on ventrum and at base of left front flipper. 'ounds not protruding into body. cavity.
Hemorrhagial fluid dripping from nostrils and mouth.
Tissues saved (one set in 10% formalin, another frozen) - entire carcus frozen.
- 1) Large amount of flui/d in internal cavity - probably post-mortem.
- 2) Liver looks good but a little friable (probably post-mortem change)
- 3) Lungs appear collapsed but otherwise healthy.
- 4) No parasites found in any portion of digestive tract.
- 5) No obstructions in digestive tract.
- 6) Thick white mucous along wall of stomach. Origin unknown.
- 7) A few small hemorrhages in lining of duodenum.
- 8) Considerable shell fragments in large bowel.
General findings: No obstructions in digestive tract, no inflamation of tissues or other internal abnormalities which could be explaned as being caused by anything other than autolysis. Cause of death undetermined.

2 ABI tag return. This turtle was removed from the intake canal, tagged (AAJ167/AAJ168) and released 3.0 miles south of the intake on,12NOV85. Upon recapture on 10JUN87, AAJ167 had fallen off and AAJ168 was removed and replaced with AAJ467 and AAJ468.

4 Anterior portion of mandible missing apparently due to injury. Examined by Thomas C. Finch, V.M.D.Transferred to tank at House of Refuge for treatment. Released on 3JUL87.

~pi1- 1 1 g 1987. Fi.ve C.'caretta and two L. ~kern i were dead when recovered.
Measurements for all animals are attached. All live turtles were released into the ocean off Hutchinson Island. No turtles were reported from other plants.
