Dear Mr. Denton:

This letter serves to inform you that the Long Island Lighting Company has invoked Code Case 1644-5 to ASME Section III which allows the use of additional materials for component supports and alternate design requirements for bolted joints. This change has been reviewed and approved by LILCO, by our engineer-ing and installation agents and will be reviewed and approved by the independent code inspection agency, Hartford Steam Boiler Company.

This change will be incorporated into the appropriate design specifications and installation documentation.
