, Date of Occurrence: 6/23/80 Time of Occurrence: 1045 CDT Identification and Description of Occurrence:

While in Mode 3, the unit operator observed the containment sump level indicator to be reading nrJ0% (1-LI-63-179). The three redundant level loops indicated a level of 0%.

Conditions Prior to Occurrence:

Unit 1 in Mode 3. Reactor coolant te=p at 547C F, pressure at 1725 psig.

Action Specified in Technical Specificatica Surveillance Requirements cet due to inoperable equipment.

Tha affected channel was placed in a tripped status within 1 hour1.157407e-5 days <br />2.777778e-4 hours <br />1.653439e-6 weeks <br />3.805e-7 months <br /> (3.3.2.1, Table 3.3-3 Action 21A) .

Apparent Cause of Occurrence:

The transmitter located on el. 698 near seal table failed to caintain the proper output (10 ta) for a zero level in containment.

Analysis of Occurrence:

Defective transmitter. There was no safety hazard as a result of this occurrence.

, Corrective Action

Defective transmitter was replaced, calibrated, and its response tice tested.

Corrective action was completed in 8 days.

None. This defect has not been previously reported.
