SUBJECT:

SAN ONOFRE NUCLEAR GENERATING STATION (SONGS), UNITS 2 AND 3 RE: WITHDRAWAL OF RELIEF REQUEST ISI-3-10, REVISION 1 (TAC NOS. MC5654 AND MC5655)

Dear Mr. Rosenblum:

By application dated January 14, 2005, Southern California Edison (SCE) requested a Third 10-Year Inservice Inspection (ISI) Interval Relief Request ISI-3-10, Revision 1 for SONGS, Units 2 and 3. In that application, SCE requested permission to perform repair welding using the ambient temperature machine gas tungsten arc welding temper-bead technique.

By letter dated December 5, 2005, SCE withdrew the Relief Request ISI-3-10, Revision 1. The stated reason for the withdrawal was that the relief request, ISI-3-10, was submitted as a contingency and is not required at this time. You also stated that SCE may resubmit a similar request at a future date.

We agree with your reason for the withdrawal. This letter acknowledges that the application has been withdrawn and the NRC staffs review of your application has been closed.

Sincerely,

/RA/
