Duke Energy Carolinas, LLC Oconee Nuclear Site Units 1, 2, and 3 Docket Numbers 50-269, 50-270 and 50-287 Completion Schedule for Part 2 of License Amendment Request to Adopt NFPA 805 Performance-Based Standard for Fire Protection for Light Water Reactor Generating Plants (2001 Edition).

License Amendment Request (LAR) No. 2008-01 On May 30, 2008, Duke Energy Carolinas, LLC (Duke) submitted part 1 of a LAR requesting Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) review and approval for adoption of a new fire protection licensing basis that complies with the requirements in 10 CFR 50.48(a), 10 CFR 50.48(c), and the guidance in Regulatory Guide (RG) 1.205. of the submittal contained a commitment to provide a project milestone schedule for the following activities by June 30, 2008:

M The Multiple Spurious Operation treatment, Change Evaluations and the determination of the additional risk presented by the use of recovery actions as a compliance strategy.

0 The Unit 1 Fire Probabilistic Risk Assessment (PRA) screening analysis.

0 The Unit 2 Fire PRA.

0 The modifications necessary to support the new Licensing Basis (LB).

5 An Updated Final Safety Analysis Report example.

0 The Non-Power Operations Modes transition evaluation.

E A schedule for the completion of the transition to the new fire protection LB The activities listed above will be completed and submitted by October 31, 2008. Any interim activities completed prior to October 31, 2008 will be submitted to facilitate the NRC's review of the submittal.
