NOTICE OF AVAILABILITY OF THE FINAL PLANT-SPECIFIC SUPPLEMENT 53 TO THE GENERIC ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT STATEMENT FOR LICENSE RENEWAL OF NUCLEAR PLANTS REGARDING SEQUOYAH NUCLEAR PLANT, UNITS 1 AND 2 (TAC NOS. MF0057 AND MF0058)

Dear Mr. Mueller:

Enclosed are two printed copies and two CDs of final Supplement 53 to NUREG-1437, Generic Environmental Impact Statement for License Renewal of Nuclear Plants, regarding the license renewal of Sequoyah Nuclear Plant, Units 1 and 2 (SQN).

The final Supplement 53 to NUREG-1437 will be submitted to the Environmental Protection Agency via e-NEPA no later than March 20, 2015. In addition, a copy of final Supplement 53 is being mailed or e-mailed to interested Federal and State agencies, industry organizations, interest groups, and members of the public. A copy of this document has also been placed in the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission's (NRC) Public Document Room, One White Flint North, 11555 Rockville Pike, Rockville, Maryland 20852, and in the NRC Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS). ADAMS is accessible on the NRC's website at http://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/adams.html. The accession number for final Supplement 53 to NUREG-1437 is ML15075A438.

The NRC received your letter dated September 29, 2014, providing comments on draft Supplement 53. Responses to your comments are provided in Section A.2 of final Supplement 53. Updates were made to Supplement 53 in Sections 3.52, 3.8, 4.9, and Appendices C and F that address your comments.
