Sequoyah Nuclear Plant, Post Office Box 2000, Soddy Daisy, Tennessee 37384 April 25, 2024 10 CFR 21.21(a)(2) 10 CFR 50.4 ATTN: Document Control Desk U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, D.C. 20555-0001 Sequoyah Nuclear Plant, Units 1 and 2 Renewed Facility Operating License Nos. DPR-77 and DPR-79 NRC Docket Nos. 50-327 and 50-328
Subject:
Interim Report of a Deviation or Failure to Comply - Transducer Model 8005N In accordance with the requirements of 10 CFR 21.21(a)(2), the Tennessee Valley Authority is submitting this interim report for Sequoyah Nuclear Plant (SQN).
During part testing of a Dresser Incorporated, Masoneilan Pressure Transducer Model 8005N, it failed to respond to input. The transducer was determined to be wired for a different response function than the purchase requirement. The transducer has never been installed in the plant.
On February 27, 2024, SQN completed its 10 CFR Part 21 discovery process and determined the need to perform a 10 CFR Part 21 Evaluation.
The evaluation on the above condition is ongoing and will not be completed within 60 days.
Because the 10 CFR Part 21 Evaluation cannot be completed within 60 days of discovery, SQN is submitting this interim report.
SQN intends to complete the 10 CFR Part 21 Evaluation no later than June 25, 2024.
There are no new regulatory commitments contained in this letter. Should you have any questions concerning this submittal, please contact Mr. Rick Medina, Site Licensing Manager, at (423) 843-8129 or rmedina4@tva.gov.
