Retrospective Analysis Workshop 6 1

Learning Objectives

  • Practice with retrospective analysis of events
  • Practice with retrospective analysis of conditions Important:

a) The workshop problems can be performed as group exercises.

b) The purpose is to exercise the modeling thought process, not to get the right answer.

2

Problem #1 A severe overnight storm damages power lines feeding the Fenwick 1 NPP switchyard and causes a loss of offsite power.

Describe how you would determine the CCDP for this event.

3

Problem #2 During a 24-hour endurance test of the Fenwick 1 EDG, the EDG tripped due an overheated bearing. Subsequent investigation revealed this was due to an error during maintenance performed 6 months ago. (The lubricating oil was not refilled to the appropriate level.)

Describe how you would determine the CDP associated with this revealed condition.
