SAN ONOFRE NUCLEAR GENERATING STATION (SONGS), UNITS 2 AND 3RE: WITHDRAWAL OF RELIEF REQUEST ISI-3-10, REVISION 1 (TAC NOS. MC5654 AND MC5655)

Dear Mr. Rosenblum:

By application dated January 14, 2005, Southern California Edison (SCE) requested a Third 10-Year Inservice Inspection (ISI) Interval Relief Request ISI-3-10, Revision 1 for SONGS, Units 2 and 3. In that application, SCE requested permission to perform repair welding using the ambient temperature machine gas tungsten arc welding temper-bead technique.By letter dated December 5, 2005, SCE withdrew the Relief Request ISI-3-10, Revision 1. Thestated reason for the withdrawal was that the relief request, ISI-3-10, was submitted as acontingency and is not required at this time. You also stated that SCE may resubmit a similar request at a future date.We agree with your reason for the withdrawal. This letter acknowledges that the applicationhas been withdrawn and the NRC staff's review of your application has been closed. Sincerely,/RA/N.
