REQUALIFICATION PROGRAM INSPECTION - GINNA NUCLEAR POWER PLANT

Dear Mrs. Korsnick:

In a communication on November 28, 2006, between Mr. Brian Haagensen, OperationsEngineer, and Mr. James Reid, Operations Training Manager, arrangements were made for the U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) to inspect the licensed operator requalification program at the Ginna Nuclear Power Plant facility. The inspection is planned for the weeks of January 22, 2007, which coincides with your regularly scheduled requalification examination cycle. The staff at your facility should prepare and conduct the requalification examinations in accordance with your NRC-approved requalification program.In accordance with 10 CFR 55.59(c), the NRC may request facility licensees to submit theirbiennial comprehensive requalification written examinations or annual operating tests asnecessary to support the NRC's inspection program needs. In order to adequately prepare for this inspection, the NRC requested the following: 1) an index or summary of condition reports written in the past two years in which licensed operator errors were determined to be the root or contributing cause; 2) an index or summary of condition reports written in the past two years on simulator performance problems; 3) an index or summary of simulator performance test results in the past two years; and 4) the examination schedule, sample plan, written examinations and operating test scheduled for the week of the inspection. Mr. J. Reid was advised of this request and has already provided the above information to the lead inspector, Mr. D. Silk.This letter contains information collections that are subject to the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995 (44 U.S.C. 3501 et seq.). These information collections were approved by the Office ofManagement and Budget, approval number 3150-0018, which expires on June 30, 2009.The public reporting burden for this collection of information is estimated to average 4 hours4.62963e-5 days <br />0.00111 hours <br />6.613757e-6 weeks <br />1.522e-6 months <br /> perresponse, including the time for reviewing instructions, gathering and maintaining the data needed, and completing and reviewing the collection of information.
