s ELECTRICAL POWERSYSTEMSContinued BASESRemovalofaccumulated waterasrequiredby4.8.1.1.2.b,2 isperformed bydrawingthecontentsoffthebottomofthetankuntilacceptable resultsareobtainedforeitheratapetestorawaterandsedimenttest.Anacceptable resultforthewaterandsedimentcontentisa'easured valuelessthan0.05percentvolume.Thesamplespecified in4.8.1.1.2.c.4 issentoffsitefortesting.Aseriousattemptwillbemadetomeetthe31-daylimitontheoffsitetests;however,ifforsomereasonthislimitisnotmet(e.g.,ifthesampleislostorbrokenoriftheresultsarenotreceivedin31days),thedieselgenerators shouldnotbeconsidered inoperable.

Ifthesmapleislost,broken,orfailstheoffsitetestsandthenewoilhasalreadybeenputintothestoragetank,theoffsitetestswillbeperformed onasampletakenfromthestoragetank.Iftheresultsonthesubsequent storagetanksamplearenotwithinspecified limits,thedieselgenerators shouldbeconsidered OPERABLEandtheout-of-spec properties shouldbereturnedtowithinspecification assoonaspossible.
