SUMMARY

OF DECEMBER 8, 2011, PUBLIC MEETING TO OBTAIN COMMENTS REGARDING THE DRAFT SUPPLEMENT TO THE FINAL ENVIRONMENTAL STATEMENT FOR WATTS BAR NUCLEAR PLANT, UNIT 2 On December 8, 2011, a Category 3 public meeting (two sessions) was held between the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and interested public at the Magnuson Hotel, 1421 Murrays Chapel Rd., Sweetwater, Tennessee 37874. The purpose of the meeting was to obtain comments on the draft Supplement 2 to the Final Environmental Statement Related to the Operation of Watts Bar Unit 2. The meeting consisted of two sessions, each preceded by an open house period. A group of concerned citizens made short presentations, asked questions, and provided comments with several individuals requesting that the NRC grant an extension to the 45-day comment period. A revised comment period was subsequently extended by staff until January 24, 2012 with additional information found under Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML 11353A242.

Both afternoon and evening public meeting sessions were transcribed and can be found under the ADAMS Accession No. ML 113630081.

The list of attendees for both sessions is provided in the enclosure.

Approximately six members of the public attended each session. To date, no meeting comment forms have been received from the public who attended the meeting. Please direct any inquiries to me at 301-415-6715 or Bruce.Bavol@nrc.gov.
