PUBLIC MEETING
SUMMARY
- 2023 ANNUAL ASSESSMENT MEETINGS FOR BROWNS FERRY, SEQUOYAH AND WATTS BAR NUCLEAR PLANTS, DOCKET NOS. 50-259, 50-260, 50-296, 50-327, 50-328, 50-390, AND 50-391 - MARCH 20 AND 27, 2024 On March 20 and 27, 2024, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) conducted open house and live virtual meetings, respectively for Browns Ferry, Sequoyah, and Watts Bar Nuclear Plants. The purpose of the meetings was to provide opportunities for the public to discuss the annual assessment for the period of January 1, 2023 - December 31, 2023.
To allow the NRC to effectively engage and maximize public stakeholders, the meetings were held in person and remotely through the Microsoft Teams application with a telephone bridge line available.
The following documents related to the meetings are available in ADAMS: Meeting Notices (ML24067A277 and ML24071A068), Browns Ferry Annual Assessment Letter (ML24052A147),
Sequoyah Annual Assessment Letter (ML24052A207), Watts Bar Annual Assessment Meeting (ML24052A310), and Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) Nuclear Plants -Browns Ferry, Sequoyah, and Watts Bar Annual Assessments Presentation Sides (ML24067A283).
The in-person meeting was conducted on March 20, 2024, from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm Eastern Time (ET).
There were approximately 20 attendees. In summary, the attendees consisted of representatives from the NRC (9), TVA (10), and member of the public (1) that did not indicate affiliation with any organization. At the conclusion of the discussion, there was an opportunity for the public to provide comments and ask questions to the NRC staff.
The virtual meeting was conducted on March 27, 2024, from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm ET. There were approximately 18 attendees. In summary, the attendees consisted of representatives from NRC (13),
TVA (2), and members of the public (2) that did not indicate affiliation with any organization. At the conclusion of the discussion, there was an opportunity for the public to provide comments and ask questions to the NRC staff.
There was minimal interaction with the public (i.e., no questions concerning the associated nuclear plants), which was consistent with the typical annual assessment meetings conducted both in-person (near the station) and virtual settings.
