REFUELINGOPERATIONSBASES3/4.9.9"ONTAINMENTPURGEANDXHAUSTISOLATIONSYSTEMTheOPERABILITYofthissystemensuresthatthecontainmentventandpurgepenetrationswillbeautomaticallyisolatedupondetectionofhighradiationlevelswithinthecontainment.TheOPERABILITYofthissystemisrequiredtorestrictthereleaseofradioactivematerialfromthecontainmentatmospheretotheenvironment.3/4.9.10and3/4.9.11MATERLEVEL-REACTORVESSELANDSTORAGEPOOLTherestrictionsonminimumwaterlevelensurethatsufficientwaterdepthisavailabletoremove99%oftheassumed10%iodinegapactivityreleasedfromtheruptureofanirradiatedfuelassemble.Theminimumwaterdepthisconsistentwiththeassumptionsoftheaccidentanalysis.3/4.9.12STORAGEPOOLVENTILATIONSYSTEMThelimitationsonthestoragepoolventilationsystemensurethatallradioactivemaerialreleasedfromanirradiatedfuelassemblywillbefilteredthroughtheHEPAfiltersandcharcoaladsorberpriortodis-chargetotheatmosphere.TheOPERABILITYofthissystemandtheresult-ingiodineremovalcapacityareconsistentwiththeassumptionsoftheaccidentanalyses.3/4.9.13SPENTFUELCASKMOVEMENTThelimitationsofthisspecificationensuresthat,duringin-sertionorremovalofspentfuelcasksfromthespentfuelpool,fuelcaskmovementwillbeconstrainedtothepathandliftheightassumedintheCaskDropProtectionSystemsafetyanalysis.Restrict-ingthespentfuelcaskmovementwithinthese,requirementsprovidesprotectionforthespentfuelpoolandstoredfuelfromtheeffectsofafuelcaskdropaccident.3/4.9.14SPENTFUELCASKDROPPROTECTIONSYSTEMThelimitationsontheuseofspentfuelcasksweighinginexcessof110tons(nominal)providesassurancethatthespentfuelpoolwouldnotbedamagedbyadroppedfuelcasksincethisweightisconsistentwiththeassumptionsusedinthesafetyanalysisfortheperformanceoftheCaskDropProtectio.sSystem.D.C.COOK.-UNIT2B3/49-3
