In accordance with 10 CFR 70.74(b), Global Nuclear Fuel-America s, LLC (GNF-A) hereby submits a written follow-up report for Event Notification 56159 that was provided to NRC on October 13, 2022 (Reference 2).

As discussed in the initial event report, GNF-A reported an unp lanned fire system impairment to the New Hanover County (NHC) Deputy Fire Marshall. Consistent w ith 10 CFR 70, Appendix A(c), a concurrent report was pro vided to NRC and is included a s Attachment 1 to this letter.


In accordance with 10 CFR 70.74(b), Global Nuclear Fuel-Americas, LLC (GNF-A) hereby submits a written follow-up report for Event Notification 56159 that was provided to NRC on October 13, 2022 (Reference 2).

Event Details and Safety Significance At approximately 1311 (EDT) on October 12th, 2022, the New Hanover County Deputy Fire Marshall was notified per State code requirements that the fire suppression system encompassing the Fuel Manufacturing Operation (FMO) was impaired. During a flow test, the backup diesel fire pump experienced an overheating condition.
Immediate Corrective Actions Taken The diesel fire pump was placed in the manual "Off" position. The electric fire pump was verified to be fully operational and available to perform its safety function. A repair vendor was contacted to restore operation.
Probable Cause of Event A failed pressure regulator was determined to be the cause of the issue.
