Dear Sir or Madam:

In accordance with 1 O CFR 70.74(b), Global Nuclear Fuel-Americas, LLC (GNF-A) hereby submits a written follow-up report for Event Notification 54889 which was provided to NRG on September 8, 2020 (Reference 2) and Event Notification 54890 which was provided to NRG on September 9, 2020 (Reference 3).

Event 54889 As discussed in the initial event report, GNF-A reported a fire system impairment to the New Hanover County (NHC) Deputy Fire Marshall. Consistent with 1 O CFR 70, Appendix A(c), a concurrent report was provided to NRG and is included as Attachment 1 to this letter.

Additional information is provided as follows:

Event Details and Safety Significance At approximately 2045 EDT on September 7, 2020, the New Hanover County Deputy Fire Marshal was notified per State code requirements that the fire suppression system encompassing a part of the Fuel Manufacturing Operation (FMO) was impaired due the discovery of a water leak in the sprinkler system. Additional compensatory measures were enacted. The system was restored at approximately 0930 on September 8, 2020 and the Deputy Fire Marshal informed of restoration. Because the New Hanover County Deputy Fire Marshal was notified, a concurrent notification to the NRG Operations Center was made per 1 O CFR 70, Appendix A(c). There was no degradation of an item relied on for safety (IROFS) or failure to meet performance requirements.

US NRC M200147 November 4, 2020 Page2 Immediate Corrective Actions Taken The affected system riser was valved out to stop the leak initially and then the riser was placed back into operation after the sprinkler line was isolated. Only two sprinkler heads were affected.

Probable Cause of Event The junction appeared to have failed due to age. There was no initiating event.

Short Term Corrective Action The leak was repaired on September 8, 2020. The system was restored to service after the required tests were completed.

Longer Term Corrective Action None Event 54890 As discussed in the initial event report, GNF-A reported a planned fire system impairment to the New Hanover County (NHC) Deputy Fire Marshall. Consistent with 1 O CFR 70, Appendix A(c), a concurrent report was provided to NRC and is included as Attachment 2 to this letter.

Additional information is provided as follows:

Event Details and Safety Significance At approximately 1015 EDT on September 8, 2020, the New Hanover County Deputy Fire Marshal was notified per State code requirements that the fire suppression system encompassing a part of the Fuel Manufacturing Operation (FMO) was impaired due to planned piping replacement. Additional compensatory measures were enacted. The system was restored at approximately 1750 EDT on September 8, 2020. The Deputy Fire Marshal was informed of restoration. Because the New Hanover County Deputy Fire Marshal was notified, a concurrent notification to the NRC Operations Center was made per 10 CFR 70, Appendix A(c).

There was no degradation of an item relied on for safety (IROFS) or failure to meet performance requirements.

Immediate Corrective Actions Taken Planned maintenance and inspection activities were completed. Compensatory measures were enacted.

US NRG M200147 November 4, 2020 Page 3 Probable Cause of Event There was no event.

Short Term Corrective Action The system was restored to service at approximately 1750 EDT on September 8, 2020.

Longer Term Corrective Action None If you have any questions regarding this matter, please contact me at (910) 819-5950.
