Dear Mr. Hendrie:
I Enclosed please find a copy of an article which appeared in the Hammond Times on June 14th regarding the Bailly nuclear power plant. The article alleges several inadequacies in the No-thwest Indiana Public Service Company's (NIPSCOl plant and the company's non-compliance with existing federal regulations.
The June 14th article alleges that NIPSCO did not use accurate maps in the siting of the Bailly plant.
Please appris~e me of the current regulations regarding the siting of nuclear plants and if those regulations have been violated cy NIPSCO's siting of the Bailly plant near Bethlehem Steel and other low population centers.
The article also states that NIPSCO has not developed an evactiation plan nor have they made any arrangements for the disposal of nuclear waste from the Bailly plant. Please apprise me of any statutory or regulatory provisions that would be applicable and if NIPSCO has complied with these requirements.
Thank you in advance for your cooperation. I look forward to your response.
Sincerely, fW Adam Benjamin, Jr.

Dear Mr. Hendrie:
I 2nclosed please find a copy of an article which appeared in the Hammond Times on June 14th regarding the Bailly nuclear power plant. The article alleges several inadequacies in the Northwest Indiana Public Service Company's (NIPSCO) plant and the company's non-compliance with existing federal regulations.
The June 14th article alleges that NIPSCO did not use accurate maps in the siting of the Bailly plant.
Please apprish me of the current regulations regarding the siting of nuclear plants and if those regulations have been violated by NIPSCO's siting of the Bailly plant near Bethlehem Steel and other lov population centers.
The article also states that NIPSCO has not developed an evacuation plan nor have they made any arrangements for the disposal of nuclear waste from the Bailly plant. Please apprise me of any statutory or regulatory provisions that would be applicable and if NIPSCO has complied with these requirements.
Thank you in advance for your cooperation. I look forward to your response.
. Sincerely, A WN Adam Benjamin, Jr. l Member of Congress ASJ/%dk Enclosure Lc -
