SUMMER NUCLEAR STATION (VCSNS) UNIT 1 SPECIAL REPORT 2019-001 FOR METEOROLOGICAL MONITORING CHANNELS INOPERABLE South Carolina Electric & Gas Company is submitting this Special Report pursuant to the requirements of Technical Specifications (TS) 3.3.3.4 and 6.9.2. This report addresses one or more required meteorological monitoring channels being inoperable for more than seven (7) days. |
| | On December 25, 2018, VCSNS's Meteorological Instrumentation was declared inoperable due to the Meteorological Tower data reading intermittently on the Integrated Plant Computer System. |
| | The applicable TS action statement expired on January 1, 2019. Both channels of data for temperature, wind speed and wind direction at all elevations were being intermittently lost. The cause of the Meteorological Instrumentation's inoperability appears to be a failure of the data logger at the Meteorological Tower. This failure has been entered into the station's corrective action program. The Meteorological Instrumentation was restored back to an operable status on January 4, 2019. |

Nuclear Regulatory Commission VCS-LIC/RP R0 Washington, DC 20555-0001 Docket No. 50-395 License No. NPF-12 SOUTH CAROLINA ELECTRIC & GAS COMPANY VIRGIL C.
