Oneofthesepumpsmayserveasabackuptooneofthefiresuppression pumpsthattakesuctionoffofthetanks.However,itisnotourintenttorelyonbackupsystemsorothercompensatory measuresforanextendedperiodoftimeandactionwillbetakentorestoretheinoperable portionsofthefiresuppression systemtoOPERABLEstatuswithinareasonable period.Thesurveillance requirements provideassurance thattheminimumOPERABILITY requirements ofthefiresuppression systemsaremet.Whileperforming thesurveillances specified in4.7.9.1.1 thefiresuppression watersystemisstillcapableofperforming itsintendedfunction.
