By letter dated July 17, 2015, the Southern Nuclear Operating Company, Inc. (SNC, the licensee) submitted a relief request for Joseph M. Farley, Unit 1. SNC requested a one-time extension from 1 O years to 20 years between examinations required by IWB 2412, Inspection Program B, which requires volumetric examination of essentially 100% of reactor vessel pressure-retaining welds in Table IWB-2500-1.
 
The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff has determined that additional information is needed as discussed in the Enclosure.

State whether the size of the indication changed during the c'ourse of the three inspections, and if so, whether the size of the indication could be attributed to improved inspection procedures.
