ME3959) Dear Mr. Walsh: The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff has completed a supplement to the draft plant-specific Supplement 46 to NUREG-1437, "Generic Environmental Impact Statement for License Renewal of Nuclear Plants (GElS}," regarding the renewal of operating license NPF-86 for an additional 20 years of operation for Seabrook Station, Unit 1 (Seabrook). The NRC will incorporate the contents of the supplement. and any comments received thereon. into the final plant-specific supplement to the GElS for Seabrook. Enclosed is a copy of the draft supplement and the associated Federal Register Notice of Availability. This notice advises the public that the draft supplement is publicly available at the NRC public document room (PDR) or from the NRC's Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS). ADAMS is accessible from the NRC website at http://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/adams.html. The Accession Number for the supplement to draft Supplement 46 to the GElS is ML 13113A 174. In addition. the Seabrook Library. located at 25 Liberty Street, Seabrook. NH 03874, and the Amesbury Public Library, located at 149 Main Street, Amesbury, MA 01913. have agreed to make the draft supplement available for public inspection. This supplement does not change the recommendation in Section 9.4 of the draft supplement issued in August 2011. In the August 2011 draft Supplement 46. the NRC's preliminary recommendation was that the adverse environmental impacts of license renewal for Seabrook Station. Unit 1, were not great enough to deny the option of license renewal for energy-planning decisionmakers. This recommendation continues to be based on (1) the analysis and findings in the GElS; (2) the environmental report submitted by NextEra Energy Seabrook, LLC; (3) consultation with Federal. State and local agencies; (4) the NRC's environmental review; and (5) consideration of public comments received during the scoping process. | | {{#Wiki_filter:UNITED STATES NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION WASHINGTON, D.C. 20555-0001 April 26, 2013 Mr. Kevin Walsh Site Vice President c/o Mr. Michael O'Keefe NextEra Energy Seabrook, LLC P.O. UNITED STATES NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION WASHINGTON, D.C. 20555-0001 April 26, 2013 Mr. Kevin Walsh Site Vice President c/o Mr. Michael O'Keefe NextEra Energy Seabrook, LLC P.O. Box 300 Seabrook, NH 03874 SUB..IECT: NOTICE OF AVAILABILITY OF THE SUPPLEMENT TO THE DRAFT PLANT SPECIFIC SUPPLEMENT 46 TO THE GENERIC ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT STATEMENT FOR LICENSE RENEWAL OF NUCLEAR PLANTS REGARDING SEABROOK STATION, UNIT 1 (TAC NO. ME3959)
Dear Mr. Walsh:
The U.S. The Accession Number for the supplement to draft Supplement 46 to the GElS is ML13113A174.
K. Walsh - 2 A separate Notice of Availability of the supplement to the draft supplemental environmental impact statement will be placed in the Federal Register through the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. If you have any questions regarding this matter, please contact the NRC Environmental Project Manager, Ms. Lois M. James at 301-415-3306 or by e-mail at lois.james@nrc.gov.
Sincerely, Qd~na~;~ 0/~
