Subject:

BOMB THREAT At 8:45 p.m., (CDT), September 21, 1985, an unidentified man, apparently intoxicated, telephoned the Northern States Power Company's corporate office and said he had planted several bombs around the Monticello nuclear plant.

The . dispatcher who received the call, notified plant officials and corporate security. The licensee declared an " unusual event," per emergency classification procedures. The Wright County Sheriff's Department was notified and assisted security personnel in a search of the plant and surrounding area.

The Minneapolis Police Bomb Squad was put on alert, but not activated. No bomb was found and the unusual event was terminated at 12:45 a.m. (CDT), September 22.

The licensee has notified the FBI.

The licensee does not believe this bomb threat is related to tnree previous bomb threats telephoned recently to the Minneapolis Emergency Center 911 number. (See PN0s III-75,79,82.)

The State of Minnesota will be notified. The NRC's Information Assessment Team also was -

notified. Region III (Chicago) will continue to monitor the situation.
