  • w Northern States Power Company reported preliminary results of their inspection of ten spent 7 x 7 fuel bundles which had previously been identified as fuel leakers. Three of the ten fuel bundles were discharged i l from the core in March 1974 while the other seven bundles were discharged l in January 1975. All of the outside pins of Lach bundle were examined l

visually using a TV camera. Preliminary results indicate longitudinal  !

in length from one inch to three fee't long with a maximum wid,th approxi-( mately k inch. The fuel pins in the other peripheral positions did not  ;

show any significant cracking. '

The licensee 'is continuing examination of the 10 fuel bundles and plans to review the results with General Electric.

IE:III has scheduled an inspection for July 8 to review the licensee's results to date and visually examine the defective fuel.
