Summary Report for the Regulatory Audit of the Hermes 2 Preliminary Safety Analysis Report Date: Thursday, July 11, 2024 2:01:00 PM Attachments: Report for Hermes 2 PSAR General Audit.pdf

Drew and Darrell,

Attached is the summary report for the regulatory audit of the Hermes 2 Preliminary Safety Analysis Report conducted by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) Staff from October 2023 through June 2024. By letter dated June 14, 2023, Kairos Power LLC (Kairos) applied for a construction permit under Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations Part 50 for its fluoride salt-cooled, high temperature non-power test reactor facility (Hermes 2). The application included a preliminary safety analysis report (PSAR)

(Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML23195A124). Revision 1 to the PSAR was submitted to the NRC on May 23, 2024 (ML24144A090).

This audit allowed the staff to gain a better understanding of the Hermes 2 PSAR through review and discussion of underlying supporting documentation and aided in assessing the safety of the proposed test reactor facility.

Please review this report for any proprietary or factually incorrect information, otherwise, it will be released to the public on July 19, 2024.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Mike
