NRC Mission Statement The NRC's mission is to license and regulate the Nation's civilian use of radioactive materials to provide reasonable assurance of adequate protection of public health and safety and to promote the common defense and security and to protect the environment.

Reactor Oversight Program

Reactor Oversight Program INSPECTION Two resident inspectors are on-site and issue quarterly inspection reports annually.

Emergency Planning PERFORMANCE INDICATORS 17 Performance Indicators Data submitted to NRC quarterly Inspection program verifies accuracy Data available on the NRC website

Resident Inspector Program Inspectors live in the community and work at the Nuclear Power Plants.

Daily coverage and oversight of plant activities, including control room visits and routine meetings with plant managers.

Prioritize inspections based on important plant activity.

Resident Inspector Program Observe emergency exercises and provide support for any real emergencies or urgent issues

Resident Inspector Program Support NRC allegation process for plant employees and the public Routinely discuss safety concerns with plant management and operators

Hatch Nuclear Plant Findings and Performance Indicators Southern Nuclear operated the Hatch Nuclear Plant safely and in a manner that preserved public health and safety and protected the environment.

All findings and performance indicators (PIs) associated with Hatch Nuclear Plant in 2022 were Green All PIs were Green (no performance thresholds exceeded) 8 Green findings (with 7 associated non-cited violations) 1 Traditional enforcement non-cited violation severity level IV

Hatch Nuclear Plant Annual Assessment Summary Hatch Units 1 and 2 remained in the Licensee Response Column of the NRCs ROP Action Matrix for the last quarter of 2022 NRC plans to conduct routine baseline inspections at the Hatch Nuclear Plant for 2023
