MONITORING STATUS NEW WELLS SCS samples include the additional wells installed in 2008. See their location and recent tritium results (August 2009) listed below:
R1 -70' West of the Maintenance bldg, (243 pCi/L)
R2 -10' North of the EDG bldg, (356 pCi/L)
R3 -30' South of the U 1 CST Enclosure, (1720 pCi/L)
R4 -Outside the Protected Area near the Discharge Structure, (191 pCiIL)
R5 -75' West of the Laundry Storage bldg, (1823 pCi/L)
R6 -30' Southeast of the Laundry Storage bldg., (243 pCi/L)
Sampling results indicate containment of plume inside subsurface drain.
MONITORING STATUS (CONT.)
Southern Company Services Groundwater program:
0 SCS monitors 26 wells on a quarterly basis, including deep wells 2 and 3:
- Deep well results < MDA fro 2008 (both wells were around 250 pCi/L)
- Current site program to be evaluated for reduction of sampling based on SCS sampling (frequencies/sample points).
- Site to continue monthly monitoring of NW10, T12.
- SCS to alert site concerning spikes in tritium activity?
CURRENT ISSUES
- N008A indicates a flat trend for the last 6 months.
° NW1 0 maintains the same concentrations for the last 8 months (no increases).
- T12 was at an all time low activity in June of 2009.
° Gscan activities performed in 2008 and no degradation was found for Unit 2 that was greater than the action level set by the Corporate Stress Group.
- Drain line repair work completed around U2 CST moat on 10/22/09.
MIL ITEM #29
- Investigate source of in leakage to pull box adjacent to U2 CST (CR 2008103772). Activity continues to decrease (highest pullbox - AQ = 3890 pCi on 10/15/09.
Chemistry will continue to obtain samples from pullboxes and water will be disposed of in decon sink until activity is <MDA.
