SUBJECT:

ENTRY OF ENCLOSED APPENDIX I EVALUATIONS INTO DCS MICROFICHE FILES AND ARCHIVING IN NRR DOCKET FILES In the mid 1970s all licensees of operating reactors were required to submit an extensive evaluation of their plant operations to demonstrate that they were operating in compliance with 10 CFR 50 Appendix 1. These submissions were as extensive as recent Environmental Reports for NT0Ls, and were archived in Central Files and in the PDR. Between 1976 and 1979 the NRC staff reviewed these submissions, made independent calculations, and prepared an evaluation of the plant with respect to Appendix I to 10 CFR Part 50. Copies of seven of these staff evaluations were entered into the DCS in late 1978 and 1979 as the DCS was starting up. Six more evaluations have been added to the DCS since that time, but a majority of the evaluations are not available in the NRC archives.

The enclosed 24 Appendix I evaluations are for plants not already covered by reports in the DCS. These include reports for Browns Ferry, Calvert Cliffs, D. C. Cook, Cooper, Fitzpatrick, Fort Calhoun, Ginna, Haddam Neck, Hatch, Kewaunee, Maine Yankee, McGuire, Nine Mile Point-1, Oyster Creek, Peach Bottom, Point Beach, Prairie Island, Quad Cities, Salem, San Onofre-1, St. Lucie, Surry, Trojan, and Vermont Yankee.

Multiple Addressees DEC 111987 We request that these documents be entered into the DCS system on microfiche so that they can be cataloged and available to all DCS users. These reports should be coded as PDR available for the DCS but no further distribution need '

be made beyond a copy to the PDR and this original hard copy to Central Files. I' Because of legibility problems with the microfiche it is essential that one "hard copy" or these documents be continually available on the shelves of the Docket Files for our use in licensing action reviews.
