REQUEST FOR HEARING OF THE CONNECTICUT COALITION AGAINST i MILLSTONE AND THE LONG ISLAND COALITION AGAINST MILLSTONE Attached is a petition for leave to intervene submitted on October 6,1999, by the Connecticut Coalition Against Millstone and the Long Island Coalition Against Millstone.  !

l The petinoners are seeking intervention in response to the issuance by the NRC staff of a proposed no significant hazards consideration notice with respect to a license amer.Jment request of the Northeast Nuclear Energy Company to amer.d the operating license for the Millstone Nuclear Power Station, Unit No. 3 (Docket No. 50-423). The proposed amendment would modify the license to allow an increase in capacity of the spent fuel storage pool. The notice wa? pubShed in the Federal Reaister at 64 Fed. Reg. 48672 (September 7,1999).

The request for hearing is being referred to you for appropriate action in accordance with 10 C.F.R. S 2.772(j).
