representing the Division of Reactor Safety and Projects; A. Johnson, L Allegation Coordinator; and L. Norderhaug. Chief, Safeguards and Ear.rgency Preparedness Branch met to discuss the subject allegation as documented.

After reviewing the information available and noting the alleger's refusal

l to present his concern to licensee management, the panel considered the '

merits and nanner of soliciting the alleger's cooperation with law enforcement

, authorities. O. Shackleton of the Office of Investigation was invited i  ;

. to advise the panel. Shackleton noted that the FBI was investigating a i case related to drug traffic in and around SONGS. That case. he advised 1 the panel, had as its genesis, the removal of several contract security i officers for suspected use of marijuana and subsequent publicity of further j allegations.

Shackleton, at the panel's request, will contact the alleger and encourage i him to contact the FBI agent handling the aforenantioned case. Shackleton )

will also contact the FBI agent and share what information is available, i The panel recommended that the principal security inspector advise the licensee of the nature of the allegation noting the request for confidentiality and our plans to turn the natter over to the FBI.

A closeout letter to the a11eger documenting, in general terms, the above position will be prepared by the Safeguards and Emergency Preparedness Branch. +
