Dear Mr. Muntzing:

l PUBLIC SERVICE ELECTRIC AND GAS COMPANY DOCKET NOS. 10-3g4 03 AND 50-355 This letter will advise that we have today filed Amendment No.13 in the captioned proceeding. In accordance with your letter of October 5, 1973, our response of October 19 and the various meetings with you and your staff, 1 we have been able to incorporate by reference almost all of the significant information from either the present Salem

application or from the information already filed in this '

proceeding. We have renamed the units as Hope Creek Cenerating Station, Nos.1 and 2 Units.

As we discussed on October 19th, some of the matters a.s sociated with the removal of the facilities to the Artificial 1 stand location will require the submission of some additional data. In addition, as we discussed, it will be necessary for u s to doctament how our existing quality assurance prograsas l neet the 18 criteria now set forth in Appendix B,10 CFR Part 50. l Some other site related data will require additional documentation.

not later than December 15, 1973. None of this material is necessary for the initiation of the staff review discussed in your October 5, 1973 letter.

Arrangements have also been made with your staff to work closely with them to provide such information as they may need informally prior to the submi.ssion of the formal araendment.

In short, we believe that all steps neceusary have been taken to permit the staff to complete its review and be ready for hearing in the four months specified in your letter.
