This is tc confirm the telephone conversation on May 12,1982, by Mr. J. W.
Sutton of this office with you, concerning the inspection at the Oakland, California, plant on August 23-27, 1982.
The NRC inspection team will consist of Messrs. J. W. Sutton and W. E. Foster, and I. Barnes.
l The inspection will relate to the following problems: (1) trapped air in governor lube oil system; (2) leaky check valve in air start system; (3) pressure sensing line between air compressor and storage tank not seismically qualified; (4) signing off corrective action foms without evidence of corrective action being taken; (5) pneumatic logic-low oil er high crankcase pressure. In addition, the inspectors will rwiew your corrective action on previously identified itaus.

Please refer to your letter of May 27, 1982 in response to our letter of May 25, 1982.
With respect to item E, we physically surveyed Betts Spring Company on June 2,1982 and found their system to be satisfactory.
The January 27, 1982 survey was a mail-in type survey. As a result of this survey and a visit to Betts Spring July 24, 1981 by 4 people from Transamerica Delaval to review their problem, they were kept on the A.S.t..
If you require any additional information on this matter, please conuct me. For your infonnation, our plant will be shut down for vacation the weeks of July 19 and 26.
