ELEMENT REPOPT MC-40709 - SEQUOYAH, "5EARCH FOR DEFECTIVE MATERIAL" ite Engineering Branch, TVA Projects Civision, has reviewea the subject Element Report during a special team inspection on June 22-26 and July 20-24, 1987. At the end of the inspection, the NRC team concluded that *./A has not adequately investigated and addressed the issue identified in the subject element report.

See NEC inspection report Numbers 50-327/87-44 and 50-328/87-44 for details.

As a result of this conclusion TVA re-reviewed the issues identified in the hRC inspection report numbers 50-327/87-44 and 50-328/87-44 and provided additional information to the NRC staff in two submittals, R. Gridley to NRC, January 11, 1988 and March 17, 1988. The NRC staff reviewed the information contained in these submittals during an inspection performed by an NRC consultant. At the conclusion of the inspection the NRC consultant concluded:

"The above TVA actions and responses, in conjunction with previously completed and reported actions, appear adequate to assure that none of she potentially fraudulent raterial identified in IEB 83-07 is presently installed in safety-significant applications at Sequoyah or present in safety-related warehouse stores."

Based upon a review of the information contained in the afoi ventioned inspection reports and TVA submittals, the NRC staff concluded that TVA's investigation and resolution of the concern were adequate, m r l~Y u.. .
