SECOND MOTION FOR AN EXTENSION OF TIME IN WHICH TO FILE CONTENTIONS NOW COMES the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and requests an extension of time in which to file its contentions in this licensing proceeding. In support of this motion, the Commonwealth states as follows:

1. On April 22, 1988, the commonwealth requested a first extension of time in which to file its contentions.

In support of this motion, the Commonwealth noted its desire to engage in discussions with the Philadelphia Electric Company (PECO) prior to filing its contentions.

2. On April 25th, this Board granted an oral extension of time until May 25, 1988.
3. On May 3, 1988, this Board issued a written order confirming this extension.

4 The Commonwealth and PECO nre now engaged in discus-sions.

5. In order to know if they can resolve their differ-ences, the Commonwealth and PECO believe they need more time than now provided by the May 25th deadline. They therefore kDob 00 h$k [7 G

would like Ldditional time in which to engage in discussions before formally commencing adversarial hee. rings.

6. PECO supports this request for an extension of time.
7. The NRC staff is not opposed to this request.
8. The potential benefit from continued discussions constitutes good cause for an extension of time because the parties may be able to settle all or part of their dispute.

WHEREFORE this Board should grant an additional exten-sion of time of thirty days until June 20, 1988.

Respe tful,1y submitted.
