DOCKET NOS. 50-266 AND 50-301 ELECTRIC POWER DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM POINT BEACH NUCLEAR PLANT, UNITS 1 AND 2 In a letter dated March 14, 1983 we provided additional information concerning the design of the electrical power distribution system at the Point Beach Nuclear Plant and its relationship to the NRC General Design Criteria (GDC).
Reference was made in that letter to the description of the electrical power distribution system as provided in the Point Beach Final Safety Analysis Report (FSAR).
We have subsequently been requested by Mr. Colburn, our NRC project manager, to confirm that there have been no significant changes to the electrical distribution system as described in the FSAR which would affect the degree of conformance with GDC-17.
We are committed to keeping the Point Beach FSAR description as up-to-date as possible consistent with the requirements of 10 CFR 50.71e.
We are presently completing a significant plant modification to upgrade the instrumentation bus power supplies.
This modification includes new batteries, chargers, and associated distribution equipment.
As this modification is not expected to be completed until 1984, it has not been described in the FSAR; however, neither this modification nor other changes we have made to the electrical distribution system at Point Beach significantly affect our on-site and off-site electrical distribution as presently described in the FSAR.
Therefore, we believe the information you presently have available describing the Point Beach electrical power distribution system is accurate and will enable you to determine that the intent of GDC-17 regarding off-site power distribution systems is adequately addressed.
