Mr.

R. A. Clark, Chief Operatillg Reactors, Branch 3 meet sumarm N

net Gentlemen:

':2 DOCKET NOS. 50-266 AND 50-301 ADEQUACY OF STATION DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM VOLTAGES POINT BEACH NUCLEAR PLANT, UNITS 1 AND 2 Our letter to you dated August 20, 1981 proposed a December 1981 completion of requested analyses of the effects of transient voltages present during switching and motor starting opera', ions.

We noted that this schedule delay was necessary because of the priority attention being given to other activities primarily related to post-TMI and NUREG-0737 requirements.

Because of the continued demands of these high priority activities, we have been unable to commence work on these analyses.

As discussed by telephone with Mr. Clark on February 24, 1982, we are in the process of obtaining assistance on this project from outside the Wisconsin Electric Nuclear Power Department.

Based on our discussion to date, we now anticipate that we will be able to complete the requested analyses and submit the necessary information to you by May 1, 1982.

We are hopeful that the steps we are taking to alleviate this work priority bottleneck will be successful and appreciate your continued understanding in these matters.

Very truly yours, d&
