20555 Attention:

Mr. Robert A. Clark, Chief Operating Reactors Branch 3 Gentlemen:

DOCKET NOS. 50-266 AND 50-301 ADEQUACY OF STATION DISTRIBUTION, SYSTEM VOLTAGES POINT BEACH NJCLEAR PLANT, UNITS 1 AND 2 On June 1, 1981, we sent you a letter responding to your request for additional information relating to the adequacy of the electrical distribution systems at the Point Beach Nuclear Plant, Units 1 and 2.

Your request had been forwarded with a letter dated March 26, 1981.

Paragraph one of that letter requested analyses of the effects of transient voltages present during switching and motor starting operations.

In our June 1 letter, we promised to submit a schedule for completion of these analyses by June 30, 1980.

Because of the priority attention being given to other activities, primarily related to the large number of post-TMI and NUREG-0737 changes and modifications presently underway, we have been unable to address this subject at this time.

We consider it unlikely that we will be able to initiate and complete the additional switching analyses you have requested before the end of this year without resorting to extraordinary efforts to accommodate this work.

Accordingly, we will provide the additional information you have requested in December 1981.

If this submittal date has a significant impact on your review schedule or is otherwise unsatisfactory, please contact us so that we may discuss it further.

Very truly yours, 7
