STATUS REPORTS FOR THI ACTION PLAN ITEMS i

At the request of the EDO, the Office of Management and Program Analysis has developed an Action Plan Tracking System (APTS). A print out of this is i

enclosed.

o The APTS provides both a management tool for the staff and current status infomation needed to respond to requests from the Commission, Congress and ot hers. Moreover the Chaiman intends to use the system as. a mechanism to assure completion of the Action Plan'in accordance with the purpose, scope, and schedules established in NUREG-0660 ahd NUREG-0737, and to provide a system of accountibility and for early warningiof deviat. ions from the Action Plan as issued. The Chaiman has directed that (1) each task and identified subelement established by NUREG-0660 must be treate'd as a separate trackabl.e item; (2) there may be no changes in purpose, sc' ope, or schedule from those established in NUREG-0660 and NUREG-0737 without prior Commission approval; 'and (3) the infor-nation must be accurate enough for public dissemination.

In addition a status descriptor for each task is established. These descriptors are:

No work is presently being carried out on this item INACTIVE A requirement has been issued, item is to be implemented REQMENT by DL.

All activity on action item has been carried out; study COMPLETE or report completed; requirement and implementation carried out.
