SUBJECT:

PERIODIC STATUS REPORTS FOR TMI ACTI0i! PLAf! ITEMS Periodic reports cn the status of Ti1I Action Plan items (!!UREG-0660) have been requested by Congress, the Cc=)ission and the Executive Director for Operations. For example, a discussion of T!11 Action Plan accomplish-nents and issues was included in the iecent Mid-Year revicu of important agency programs for the Comission. The Office of lianagement and Program Analysis (MPA) has the responsibility for assembling this information for the PRC. llithin !!RR, the Division of Safety Technology has been charged with the responsibility for monitoring the technical progress of each itea assigned to llRR. Thus, a single location uithin NRR will maintain a record of the status of each item and provide a periodic assessment of the overall program. This will also be a source for input for our Program Support staff. The Responsible Individuals assigned to each action plan item in liRR will still be the source for detailed and current information regarding individual items.

The Generic Issues Dranch (GIB) has been assigned to nonitor these activ-ities.for DST.

l' embers of the GIB have net with representatives from MPA to discuss the information needs for both groups. To obtain the inforr.a-tion required by both groups, we believe that the most expeditious arrange-nent would be for the Responsible Individuals to provide the GIB a brief discussion of each item on a periodic basis.

r URR Division Directors AUG 011939 Accordingly, you are requested to provide the information contained in Enclosure I for those items assigned to your Division or Prograa Office.

Since much of this inforc.ation will be maintained on the computer by MPA the information should be provided in sumiary fora. A separate form for each case, for those itens which apply to many applicants or licensees, is not required. The iterc.s assigned to each group are listed in Enclosure II. The cunpletion of applicable items is defined as specified in the Action Plan.

The first suranary should be provided by each division by August 15, 1980.

Subsequent summaries need only update the previous sumary and should be provided on three month intervals. A cemorandum will be issued to provide notification prior to each subsequent submission date. The information should be addressed to the Generic Issues Branch, ATTU:

Karl Kniel. Please contact Paul Horian (X29457) or Harren Minners (X275Gl) if you have any questions.

Memorandum from R. J. !tattson to S. H. Hanauer, et al., " Periodic Status Reports for Tiil Action Plan Items," Aug. 01, 1930 This memorandum is in response to Reference 1 which requested that we provide certain information to assist tracking of the THI Action Plan by the Office of.tanagement and Program Analysis (MPA).

The infone.ation required consisted of:

a) a compilation of those action plan itcas being worked on, b) the dates that each activity will be complete, and c) iden-tification of originally planned accomplishments that were deferred because of resources transferred to the Action Plan.

To obtain the information requested, we are establishing a periodic reporting system to assess the status of each action plan item assigned

-to items (a) and (b), and an overall surr.ary of the status of each item.

The initial survey from the Responsible Individuals assigned to each item is' expected by August 15, 1980.
