Gentlemen:

We have received a copy of your application dated July 23, 1981, as supplemented by letter _ dated September 15, 1981, which was filed with the Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation (ONRR) for review end acceptance. This application' proposed a seismic reevaluation program for qualification of mechanical and electrical equipinent in lieu of participation in the NRC's program for the Haddam Neck Plant and Millstone Nuclear Power Station Units Nos.1 and 2.

Fees pursuant to 10 CFR 170.22 were not remitted with the application.

Based on information provided by the ONRR staff as a result of their preliminary review of this application, it has been determined that a Class III fee -($4,000) each is applicable to the Haddam Neck Plant and Millstone Nuclear Station Unit I and a Class I fee ($400) is applicable to Millstone Nuclear Station Unit 2 because tt.a review will involve consideration of a single safety issue for Haddam Neck and Millstone Nuclear Station Un101 and more than one unit (Millstone Nuclear Station Unit 2). Although Millstone Units 1 and 2 are not identical units, we, s have been advised by the ONRR staff that due to the nature of the item'being' i j considered and the fact that both units are or, the same site with one major C

review covering both units, a duplicate fee for Millstone Unit 2 would'be

applicable rather than a Class III fee. Therefore, you are requested to remit N

the sum of $8,400 to our office. If the ONRR staff's final review of your 4

application reveals that these fees are not correct, you will be notified and -
