(Three Mile Island Nuclear ) Station, Unit No. 1) ) LICENSEE'S REQUEST FOR RELIEF FROM SCHEDULE FOR FILING CROSS-EXAMINATION PLANS By Memorandum and Order dated August 15, 1980, the Board directed that cross-examination plans be filed with the Board by October 15, 1980. At that time the Board expected that direct testimony on all issues and contentions listed in that Memorandum and Order would be filed by September 15, 1980. Two intervening matters suggest a modification in that schedule. First, due to delays in the service of the bulk of the Staff testimony, together with the Board's ruling that other parties may delay service of their corresponding testimony, the time for receipt and review of testimony and for the preparation of cross-examination plans has been severely reduced. Second, the scope of the testimony and number of wit- I nesses proposed by TMIA for its direct case on safety-related maintenance issues beginning October 15, 1980, assures a sub-stantial interval before other testimony can be heard. , 0g hb 8009800 $# /

4 Accordingly, Licensee requests that the time at which cross-examination plans on all direct testimony served in response to the Board's August 15, 1980, Memorandum and Order be extended to October 30, 1980, for plans served by mail and to November 3, 1980, for plans delivered to the Beard. Respectfully submitted, i SHAW, PITTMAN, POTTS & TROWBRIDGE By jjy ; ' s, AjW j
