STN 50-498 and STN 50-499 Strainer Test Plan in Support of STP Pilot Risk-Informed GSI-191 Pilot Licensing Application (TAC Nos. MF2400 and MF2401)

Reference:

Letter, G. T. Powell, STPNOC, to NRC Document Control Desk, "Supplement 1 to Revised STP Pilot Submittal and Requests for Exemptions and License Amendment for Risk-Informed Approach to Resolving Generic Safety Issue (GSI)-191" November 13, 2013 (NOC-AE-13003043, ML13323A183)

In the referenced correspondence, STP Nuclear Operating Company (STPNOC) submitted a pilot application for a risk-informed methodology for the resolution of GSI-191. The NRC staff has issued requests for additional information (RAI) regarding the application of the STPNOC methodology with respect to the correlations that were used and commented that there is insufficient test data to fully support the use of the correlations. To support response to the staff's RAI, STPNOC has developed the attached test plan. The attachments include an executive summary of the test plan and a detailed test plan.

The intent of the test plan is to provide additional support for the correlations in the STPNOC methodology and to provide additional data regarding behavior of debris prototypical to STP. STPNOC requests that the staff review the attached plan as a primary agenda item for a public conference call scheduled for November 6, 2014.

There are no regulatory commitments in this submittal.
