Dear Mr. Gallagher:
On May 29, 2013, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) received the Exelon Generation Company, LLC, application for renewal of operating licenses for Byron Nuclear Station, Units 1 and 2, and Braidwood Nuclear Station, Units 1 and 2. We are currently performing an acceptance review for docketing in accordance with the requirements of Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations Section 2.101 (10 CFR 2.101), and will notify you of the results of our review. Should the NRC staff determine that the application is acceptable for docketing, a schedule for the review will then be provided to you.
We have enclosed for your information a copy of the notice relating to your application that is being sent to the Office of the Federal Register for publication.
I am pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. John Daily as the project manager for the safety review, and Ms. Lois James and Mr. Tam Tran as project managers for the environmental reviews of your license renewal application. Please forward copies of license renewal correspondence to Mr. Daily, Ms. James, or Mr. Tran as appropriate. Mr. Joel Wiebe continues to remain responsible for the project management of all issues other than license renewal for the Byron and Braidwood Nuclear Stations.
