Dear Chairrran Diaz:

Orange County is extremely displeased with the state of the Indian Point siren system, as evidenced by the July 18-19 failure of tHe transmitter that sends an activation signal to the sirens. When the transmission tower lost power, the events that followed show severe deficiencies in the system that is meant to inform the public of an incident at the plant Orange County is cxtremely displeased that:

The emergency generator failed to turn on when the transmitter tower lost electrical service; The battery back-up system to the generator has only one hour of use; and There is no staffing 24 hours2.777778e-4 days
0.00667 hours
3.968254e-5 weeks
9.132e-6 months
a day, seven days a week, to monitor the siren system and it was only when an employee arrived to work the next morning and performed mozring checks that it was realized that the siren system was without power.

I expect an explanation of the above events and of what Entergy is going to do to remedy this dangerous situation as soon as possible.
