Thank you for your letter dated January 4,
1985, informing us of the steps you have taken to correct the items which we brought to your attention in our letter dated December 5, 1984.
Your corrective actions will be verified during a future inspection.
Our review of your corrective action indicates some additional clarification or action is required.
It is our understanding that the subject pipe support would have failed because it was a relatively heavily loaded support attached to a relatively light structural member.
Therefore, it would appear prudent for you to include statistics in the analysis of the Units 2/3 reinspection program for heavily loaded supports attached to light structural members where the bracket weld orientation problem exists.
In this way, the extent of this failure mechanism can be identified specifically.
Please respond with the results of your consideration and provide further clarification or identify additional actions as appropriate.
