Conlon, Sectidn Chief, RCES Branch Date Signed SUMMARY Inspection on January 7-10, 1980 Areas Inspected , This routine, unannounced inspection involved 24 inspector-hours onsite in the areas of installation and associated records for safety-related electrical cables, fire suppression equipment, followup inspection of licensee identified item 328/79-24-05, and protection of safety-related electrical equipment.

Results Of the areas inspected, no items of noncompliance or deviations were identified.

Exit Interview The inspection scopa and findings were summarized on January 10, 1980 with those persons indiccred in Paragraph I above.

Unresolved Items Unresolved items were not identified during this inspection.

Independent Inspection The inspector conducted a walk-through inspection of various construction areas on the site. Approximately 20 fire extinguishers were examined to verify that periodit inspections of equipment was being performed in accor-dance with the projects fire plan.

The protection of installed electrical equipment wa's observed.

In this regard, the preventative maintenance (PM) records of 4 safety-related electrical motors (Control Rod Drive Cooling Fan Motors, 2-MTRB-30-80B and 2-MTRB-30-88A; and Component Cooling Pump Motors, 2-MTRB-70-33-B and 2-MTRB-70-59-A) were selected for a more detailed review in this area. The procedure used in this examination was construction Procedure (CP) -6, " Preventive Maintenance for Permanent Equipment".

All PM records for these pumps were not available. This item is identified as Inspector Followup Item 50-328/80-01-01; PM Records for Electrical Motors (2-MTRB-70-33B, 59A, and 2-MTRB-30-80B, 88A).

Licensee Identified Items (50.55(e)) (0 pen) Item 328/79-24-05 Environmental Qualification of Junction Boxes Associated with Safety-Related Circuits Inside the Containment.

TVA has issued Engineering Change Notice (ECN) 2322, Special Maintenance Instruc-tions (SMI) 2-99-1, and Inspection Instruction (II) D-3 along with work packages L 934E 991-002 through 007 to document and correct this discre-pancy. With the above, the licensee has initiated inspections and corrections of this problem: However, Region II has not verified field implementation of this action.

Electrical (Cables & Terminations I) - Observation of Work, Work Activities and Review of Quality Records.

The inspector selected safety-related electrical cables, 2PP-600A, 2PP-575A, B-65III, B-38III, 2V-3133A, 2V1902B, 2V-2797A, 2V-2754B, 2V-3108B, 2V-3122B, 2V-2921B, 2V-2981A, 2V-2860B, 2V-2931, 2V-2767A, 2V-7960A, and 2V-9101B for a physical examination and record review. These cables were examined in the areas of storage, handling and identification, receipt inspection including material certification, installation and installation inspection, cable and cable raceway identification, termination and nondestructive examination. The procedures used in this examination were Inspection Instruction (II)-28, " Cable Pull Inspection", II-30, " Receipt Inspection", II-10, " Interconnecting Cable Termination and Insulation Inspection", and II-11, "2500-Volt Megger, DC Hi Pot Insulation and 6900V AC Motor Briding Inspection".

Within the areas examined, no items of noncompliance or deviations were identified.
