Preparedness Section Inspection Summary Inspection Conducted May 8-10,1989 (Report 50-285/89-23)

Areas Inspected:

Routine, unannounced inspection of the licensee's physical security program.

The areas inspected within the physical security program included management support; security program audits; protected and vital area (VA) physical barriers; protected and VA access control of personnel, packages, and vehicles; and compensatory measures.

Results: Within the program areas inspected, no violations or deviations were identified.

The NRC inspector reviewed tne licensee's actions regarding the problems identified in NRC Inspection Report 50-285/89-10. The review also included the items discussed during the enforcement conference held in the Region IV I

office on April 12, 1989, and followup information provided in the licensee's I

letter dated April 20, 1989.

The NRC inspector confirmed that the actions committed to had been completed. Overall, the licensee appeared to have made significant changes that reasonably ensure that the violations and problem areas identified in NRC Inspection Report 50-285/89-10 will not recur.
