Followup, IE Circular and Information Bulletin The inspector verified that the licensee had received, reviewed and has taken or plans to take appropriate action with respect to:

IE Information Notice No. 82-18: Assessment of Intakes of' Radioactive I

Material by Workers - applicable to Units 1 and 2 (FW-06-16)

.

IE Circular No. 81-09: Containment Effluent Water that Bypasses'

Radioactivity Monitor - applicable to Unit 2 (IC-81-09)

No items of noncompliance or deviations were identified.

3.

Preoperational Testing The status of preoperational tests selected for review was examined.

In' those cases where preoperational tests had been completed, approved and accepted by operations, test results were examined to assure that xhe test results were within the previously established acceptance

Applicability Title and Comments 19.2.11 Addendum

Test New Reactor Cavity Sump Pumps (A)2 As originally designed and built.the reactor sump was equipped with centrifugal pumps in an area accessible only with difficul ty. An ALARA review identified the problem and proposed corrective action. This test was of the jet pumps installed to replace the centrifugal pumps. The jet pumps will require significantly less maintenance activity in the reactor sump area.-

Area, Process and Effluent Monitor Calibration l

Paragraph 5 of IE Inspection Report Nos. 50-275/81-16 and 50-275/82-04 identify FSAR and non FSAR identified monitor calibration procedure and calibration status. At the time of the inspection the following FSAR identified monitors were uncalibrated:

,

1-R-24 Plant Vent Iodine Monitor 1-R-25 Control Room Ventilation Intake 1-R-26 Control Room Ventilation Intake Monitors I-R-25 and 26 which had been calibrated were water damaged

'

during the January 1982 storms. These instruments have been repaired and were due for recalibration in the near future. The Plant Vent

!

Iodine Monitor, I-R-24, requires resolution of certain problems before it can be calibrated.

It is noted that some of the monitors are common

to both Units. With the exception of such monitors and fuel handling building area monitors, Unit 2 monitors are uncalibrated.

(81-05-02)

The installation and calibration status of non FSAR identified monitors l

was discussed with the licensee, i
