Thank you for your letter dated May 30, 1986, informing us of the steps you have taken to correct the violations~hich we brought to your attention in Inspection Report Nos. 50-237/85038, 0-2497~ 50-373/85040, 50-374/85041; 50-254/85031, 50-265/85033; 50-295/85043, 50-304/85044; 50-454/85052, 50-455/85046; ana 50-456/85056 forwarded by our letter dated March 24, 198 We also appreciate the response you provided as we requested in the corporate exit ~eeting regarding the unresolved and open items identified in the
- inspection report With regard to Violation 2.b for which you have requested withdrawal on the basis of the information provided in your response, your description of the circumstances of the inspection differs from our inspector's observations in that, when asked for the procedure in accordance with which discrepancy reports are prepared, the OAD engineer retrieved the "handwritten guideline" or
"training notes" from the department file The "notes" were described to our inspector as what was actually used to complete discrepancy report When pressed by our inspector, "Don't you have a procedure?", the engineer was unable to recall or produce the procedur Further, when our inspector consulted the engineer's supervisor, the supervisor indicated he did not believe there was a procedure for preparing Discrepancy Report This
description of events as we understand them lead us to conclude the procedure was not in use at the location where the activity \\'JOUld be performe However, we acknowledge and agree with your points that the OAD engineer responsible for Test Instrument Discrepancy Reports was not in the process of completing a discrepancy report at the time of our inspection and that no discrepancy reports had been generated at Braidwood since August 198 Therefore, we are withdrawing violation Our records will be changed accordingly.
