In accordance with the Code of Federal Regulations, Title 10, Part 50.73, Carolina Power & .

l Light Company submits the enclosed Licensee Event Report. The event addressed in this report concerns an actuation of the Control Building Emergency Air Filtration (CBEAF) system which occurred on July 24,1997. At the time of the actuation, the CBEAF system was not classified as an engineered safety feature. As such, the event was determined to be not reportable at that time in accordance with the requirements of 10 CFR 50.73. However, the CBEAF system was subsequently reclassified as an engineered safety feature and, therefore, this report is being submitted to address the July 24,1997, occurrence.
